Ford has released the first images of the new Focus ST in the form of load trailer status prior to the opening of orders in the summer.
Like the tailgate, the ST property will be available in both diesel and petrol form, with the former from £30,595 and the latter from £33,095 – £1100 more than the tailgate. It competes with the estate Skoda Octavia vRS and Seat Leon Cupra ST.
The diesel is a 2.0-liter EcoBlueunit with 187bhp and 295lb ft of torque, while the gasoline uses a new 2.3-liter turbocharged engine that produces 276bhp and 310lb ft. The oil burner comes exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox, while gasoline buyers also have the option of a seven-speed automatic.
Ford has not yet revealed performance figures, but expects a slight decrease in acceleration times compared to the equivalent Focus ST hatchback. The same applies to fuel economy figures, due to an expected weight gain of about 30 kg.
