Hyundai has unveiled a revamped version of its Ioniq family hatchback with a series of performance, technology and styling upgrades across the range.
The rival Toyota Prius now offers 182 miles of WLTP certified range in all-electric form, a 36% improvement over the 28 kWh output model. However, it is still about 100 miles less than the currently depleted Kona Electric.
Ioniq Electrics 38.3kWh battery pack is coupled to an electric motor that produces 134bhp and 218lb ft of torque, and is equipped with a new 7.2kW on-board charger compatible with type 2 AC charging points.
Hyundai states that the EV facelift can be charged to 80% of its capacity in as little as 54 minutes. The hybrid powertrain and plug-in hybrid powertrain variants have not changed, but the latter now has a target WLTP electric range of 32 miles.
Hyundai has also equipped the new Ioniq with its latest Blue Link connectivity software, which allows remote starting, locking, battery status checking and climate control through an associated smartphone application.
