The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, today presented Murray with the honour of the Commander of the British Empire at Buckingham Palace in a ceremony in which he recognised his contributions to motorsport and the motor industry over 50 years.

“The Gordon Murray Group is about to embark on an exciting new chapter in which pioneering innovation will once again drive our growth. Energised by this award, I cannot wait to continue the journey, supported by a dedicated and talented team.
Designer of some of the most successful Formula One cars of all time, Murray helped Brabham win two world championships (1981 and 1983) and three McLaren championships (1988, 1989 and 1990), before beginning to focus on road cars.
