Summer is on the way, which means its finally hot enough to drive with the roof down or helmet on. An excuse as good as any to find out which is the fastest in a drag race: a folding supersport, an open-track toy or a superbike?
Weve already put the McLaren 720S to the test, where it managed to pass McLarens Senna special at 60 mph, but this open roof Spider is 49 kg heavier. Still, with a twin turbo V8 engine that produces more than 700 hp, its the best.
The Ariel Atom 4 produces much lower 320bhp with its Honda Civic Type R engine – but then only tilts the scale to just over 500kg.
Even lighter is the superbike, the BMW S1000RR 2019. It produces 207 hp from a four-cylinder inline engine and revs at 14,600 stratospheric rpm. Important for this race, it also has launch control.
What is the fastest at 60 mph and 100 mph, and over quarter mile and a half mile distances? Youll have to look to find out.
