Aston Martin has brought out the fastest convertible in its history: the new DBS Superleggera Volante.
Capable of reaching 211 mph – identical to the hardtop DBS – the new addition from the British firm is available to order now, at a price of 247,500 pounds sterling. That figure is £22,500 more than the coupé, but Aston claims that the “extra level of sensory overload that only an open roof super-GT can offer” justifies the premium.
The roof itself is the most advanced soft-top the company has ever produced, with eight layers of insulation and the ability to open it completely in 14 seconds – from inside the car or externally via the remote control. The mechanism is said to have gone through more than 100,000 developing cycles everywhere, from Nevada$0027s Death Valley to the Arctic Circle.
The roof is compressed in the luggage compartment to a class leading height of 26 cm, maximising the space available for luggage. The hood is available in eight exterior colours, with six interior finishes available on request.
